A Study on Handover Algorithm for Visible Light Communications Systems

Abstract

In recent years, Visible light communication (VLC) has emerged as a potential technology for optical wireless networks with many advantages such as eye safety, eco-friendliness and energy-saving. At present , most of applications of VLC developed and appeared in the market are fixed. However,mobile applications are very promising. In mobile scenarios, handover needs more consideration. In this paper, we apply handover technique of mobile cellular network to VLC systems which receivers can move. We aim at proposing an efficient handover algorithm that is suitable for characteristics of VLC systems.
