This study proposes a method for measuring the spatial position of objects using wide-area active cameras in a surveillance system. In order to measure the spatial position, it is necessary to estimate the external parameters of cameras. In this study, only the information on the optical axis is used to estimate the external parameters, so that the accuracy is hard to be influenced by the lens distortion, and the position of objects can be measured with high accuracy.
