Abstract

Plant diagnostic technology is very important for the environmentally-friendly agriculture or city management. It would become possible to conduct early protection and treatment if we can diagnose whether plants are normal or abnormal as well as the cause of their abnormality.
The conventional research on the plant diagnosis had many techniques using the fixed type sensor or laboratory experiments. Especially the diagnostic system that fixed photo sensors, such as a camera, had the problem which cannot diagnose the disease which reaches an advanced stage from the plant lower part. As one of the solutions of this problem, we proposed plant diagnosis which used active sensing. The first, in this paper, we built the simulation system by 3 dimensional computer graphics (3DCG simulator). By using this, we can develop the plant diagnosis supposing various plant kinds, or a manipulator and an environmental condition. The second, the active sensing technique using 3DCG simulator was examined. After determining the direction that we can recognize the plant by Fuzzy inference, we did flexible sensing and identified the optimal position and the posture of the camera sensor.
