We propose an Agriculture Activity Ontology (AAO) as the basis of a core vocabulary of agricultural activity. The AAO can not only define and structure agricultural activities through Description Logics but can also standardize a wide range of vocabulary used in agricultural activities. The synonyms and related information contained in the AAO can also be used as a standard for data association and integration. This makes it possible to logically define the semantic relationship between agricultural activities and the interpretation and analysis of agricultural data. The AAO is released in Liked Open Data format and is also interoperable and machine-readable. Given its links to domestic and overseas agriculture-related information systems, the AAO can be used as an agricultural knowledge graph to facilitate high-level knowledge processing. Finally, we use the AAO as an application example to automate statistical surveys and reasoning functions of agricultural activity, and examine the utility and potential of the AAO.
