Abstract


This paper describes the form and size of a terrestrial globe preserved by the Kakuda family together with some details of geographical information it provides. this was produced by Kakuda Ougaku. this globe has a wooden stand with four wooden supports, horizontal and meridian rings. we clarified that instructions and legend affixed to the lid and documents by kakuda and his employee show that the globe was made during the period from 1855 to 1856 in Japan.
