Abstract
Sendai coastal Lowland, facing the Pacific Ocean, is 50 km long from south to north and 10-20 km wide west to east. Several range of beach ridges are recognized along the coastline and many natural levees are recognized along the rivers. In this study, the author focused the southern part of lowland, reconstructed the formative age of beach ridge ranges and a natural levee, depending on the geomorphic survey and measuring of radio carbon ages.
The formative period of beach ridge range (BR) I, I', II, and III were clarified as follows. BR-I was formed 5000 yrBP, BR-I' was formed around 3100 yrBP, BR-II was formed 2400 yrBP, and BR-III was formed from 1000 yrBP to the present.
