Abstract
This study addresses the validity of Aqua/AMSR-E soil moisture product for estimating the volumetric soil water content (VWC) in semiarid grasslands. We measured the values of VWC from Aug. 2010 to Sep. 2011 at three grasslands in Mongolia. Comparison between measured VWCs and remotely sensed ones indicated that the effectiveness of AMSR-E product depended on the site characteristics such as soil texture and vegetation.
