Abstract
Farmed parklands vegetation is formed in some areas of arid land in Africa. The formation factors of this vegetation have been mainly pointed out; importance of tree use for local people, management ways of trees by local people and right to trees. On the other hand, it is considered that people’s cognition of individuality of trees may also be important for forming this vegetation. The aim of this research is to clarify the people’s cognition for individuality of trees in agro-pastoral society, north-central Namibia and then examine the meaning of farmed parkland as cultural landscape.
