Abstract
Skipjack fishing in Okinawa has started since 1901 and prevailed around Okinawa. But it has continued only three areas, Motobu-cho, Irabu-island, Ishigaki-island. Generally, fishing grounds of skipjack fishing is Payao (artificial fishing ground) now. But fishing grounds is not only Payao. In this presentation I report the difference of the Skipjack fishing grounds. The study areas are Motobu-cho, Irabu-island and Yonaguni-island. Fleets in Motobu-cho use only Payao. It takes three to five hours from port. Irabu-island’s use not only Payao. It takes two hours to the fishing grounds. Yonaguni-island’s use banks. It takes thirty minutes to the fishing grounds.
