On wind measurement environment at air monitoring stations in southern part of Kanto region

Abstract

Air monitoring stations have been operated by local governments in Japan, and meteorological data at those stations were used with JMA’s AMeDAS data. We investigated measurement environment for wind measurement at those stations in southern part of Kanto area.

We examined measurement environment using with Google Map. In addition, we visited several observation sites, and checked the environment.

Wind measurement were affected by trees and/or buildings at 96 sites out of 263 sites. In Saitama Prefecture, poor wind observation environment was dominated.
