Abstract
This research aims to understand how local farmers perceive and respond to the change in water environment of Mount Kenya region due to global warming and climate change. The results are as follows;
1) Not only change in water environment of the mountain region, but also change in use of farmland caused water shortage in the agricultural area at the foot of the mountain.
2) Irrigation projects have been established to sustain water use and solve water conflicts.
3) In response to water shortage, local farmers have developed several strategies, such as choosing crop varieties that can adapt to dry environment, and building water tanks and small ponds to store water.
