Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to propose a space-time accessibility measure incorporating an individual’s two-stage decision-making process. The measure is theoretically desirable in that it satisfies the axioms of accessibility measures and is underpinned by logit modelling framework. The measure is also practical because it can be calibrated by ordinary statistical software. Furthermore, it is based on the assumption of two-stage decision making, which is deemed more plausible than existing studies. This study formulates a space-time accessibility measure based on a theory of nested logit models and then demonstrates its plausibility through a case study.
