Abstract

Among the seventeen Autonomous Communities created in Spain, Catalonia is one of the most concerned about landscape. This presentation will focus on the landscape policy implemented by the Catalan Autonomous Community. After introducing some key points to understand the broad social concern for landscape in Catalonia, attention will be paid to the contribution of geographers to the design and implementation of the landscape policy. Finally, the analysis of these separate aspects will converge in some discussion concerning the geographical basis of the public interventions in landscape.
