istribution of Iwami ware by modern river boat transportation linked to marine transportation

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the distribution of Iwami ware produced in Shimane Prefecture in the early 19th century, and to clarify how marine transportation and river boat transportation are connected. As a result of field surveys at museums and old houses in river basins in Japan, I found early modern Iwami ware in many of the target areas. I clarified the actual situation of logistics in which maritime transport by 'Kitamae-bune' ship and river transport were connected.
