Abstract

With a view to developing into an international interdisciplinary applied research of graffiti, which is attracting worldwide attention, this study focuses on Germany (Hamburg), which has led the world graffiti scene since the 1980s, is currently holding museum exhibitions, and continues to pursue the contemporary significance of cultural heritage as museum exhibits, as well as on Japan (Tokyo), which pioneered the realisation of museum exhibitions of graffiti already in the mid-2000s to empirically clarify the spatial characteristics of graffiti located in urban public spaces.
