Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the formation process of the early state, urban functions, and royal network of the Mapungubwe Kingdom (AD 1250-1300), which flourished in Southern Africa, through remote sensing techniques and high-resolution satellite data. We tried to get a geological proof of the Mapungubwe hill inhabited by the nobility and the residential areas of civilian around the hills.
