Abstract

Due to locating on the convergent boundary between the Eurasian Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate, numerous earthquakes occurred in Taiwan every year. Some significant earthquake events caused severe damage and had great impact on Taiwan society. With the task of emergency response after an earthquake occurred, The National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) developed a ground-motion prediction equation (GMPE) based shaking map generating algorithm with high resolution and accuracy to assess the seismic intensity. In addition, combining with geospatial techniques, a web GIS based system was built and opened.
