Development of a lesson program of disaster readiness field works with community volunteers in an elementary school and its educational effects

Abstract

Trial lessons about disaster reduction with field works for deciding a regional evacuation center and an evacuation route from the elementary school and children’s home were conducted by cooperation of community volunteers and using a village office bus. The result showed that the lesson was not difficult and enjoyable, the disaster reduction map was useful for deciding a regional evacuation center and an evacuation route and children were concerned about it. This lesson was effective for children to think about evacuation seriously.
