Comparison of factors leading to uninhabited HachijoKojima and Gajajima

Abstract

A comparison was made of the factors contributing to the uninhabited island of Hachijo Kojima and Gajajima. As a result, common factors on both islands include underdeveloped infrastructure, lack of industrial development, economic hardship, and a lack of doctors. On the other hand, a major reason for this is that barge work on Gajajima has become difficult for residents only.
