“The Fundamentals Program" (since 2021: fundamentalz.jp) aims to reconnect science, art, and society and form a new culture. Here, the results of exchanges between scientists and artists have been publicized through events such as “The Fundamental Festival” and online events such as video streaming. I have participated as a field scientist (urban environmental studies) since the first year and have collaborated with artists. I focus on the differences between field science (such as geography) and other academic disciplines, the characteristics of the artist's point of view, and the possibility of developing collaborations.
