Abstract

Promoting the birth and development of startups is considered an essential strategy to revitalize the Japanese economy. The spatial concentration of startups is a core element of the "startup ecosystem," supporting this purpose. Various studies discuss how the specialization and diversity of business/service categories within these startup concentrations influence their success. This study examines the colocation of startups with various service categories, utilizing a modified colocation quotient (CLQ). This approach allows us to grasp the specialization and diversity properties of startup concentrations from a microscale perspective.
