Abstract
The basic character of reference work is to recover the balance of three functions of a book, that is, of information, inspiration and recreation, through grasping history.
Reference work is one of the shapes which estrange its responsibility for social value directly.
Its functions do not participate individual judgement of value, but consist in the society which requirers of questions participate a historicai individual.
