Abstract
It has many foreign books in National University libraries in Japan as follows.
Japanese books 9,931,290v. 68%
Foreign books 4,698,381v. 32%
But they have not a suitable cataloger's reference tools in their libraries to cataloging for European books. Their tools are very poor as table IV. The number of this table is one of the Aker's list on the appendix of Simple library cataloging, 4th ed.
One-third of their libraries have not such rule books as A. L. A. cataloging rule and others.
In our university libraries, it is necessary to have the cataloger's reference tools of the list C at least.
