The high growth trend in Thailand’s automotive industry took a turn for the worse during the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Companies began responding to the crisis in desperation with their very survival at stake. In addition to providing an overview of the situation, this paper examines the present status quo and the latest issues affecting Thailand’s automotive industry.
