Increasing competitive strength through accumulation of human resources and reorganization

Case of Samsung Electronics

Abstract

This paper examines the case of Korea’s Samsung Electronics and its growth into a multination corporation after overcoming a crisis that threatened the company’s very survival. In particular, it analyzes human resource management as a factor in the company’s increased competitiveness. The results of the case study show that the increased competitiveness resulted from organizational capability that enabled the accumulation of sufficient human resources to accomplish the company’s strategy and re-organization to face crises.
