Synthesis and Crystal Structure of cis-Dichloro{bis-(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl)tellurium-κ²N,Te}palladium(II)

Abstract

The complex cis-[PdCl₂{Te(CH₂CH₂NMe₂)₂}], synthesized by the reaction of Na₂PdCl₄ with Te(CH₂CH₂NMe₂)₂ in methanol, contains an N,Te-chelated Pd^II center with a distorted square-planar coordination geometry. The Pd-Cl bond lengths are rather different at 2.2965(14)Å (Cl trans to N) and 2.3888(12)Å (Cl trans to Te); the Pd-Te bond is relatively short at 2.5078(6)Å. One 2-dimethylaminoethyl substituent at tellurium remains uncoordinated.
