Structure of Nadolol

Abstract

The title compound, C₁₇H₂₇NO₄, is an antihypertensive and antiangina agent. The crystal belongs to space group Cc with the cell dimensions a = 5.721(3), b = 27.25(1), c = 10.782(6)Å and β = 101.57(4)°. The final R value is 0.063. The cyclohexene ring adopts a half-chair conformation and two hydroxyl groups occupy axial and equatorial positions. The 3-amino-2-hydroxypropoxy group takes a fully extended conformation.
