Abstract
The molecular complex salt 2-chloroanilium picrate (2CAP) crystallizes in monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 11.672(1), b = 16.384(1), c = 7.556(1)Å and β = 93.97(1)°. The final R value is 0.055. The proton from the phenolic OH group of the picric acid has been transferred to the amino group of the 2-chloroaniline. The cation and anion lie almost parallel to the crystallographic ab plane and are inclined to one another with an angle of 23.6°. The cations lie as columns in the [0 0 1] direction with a possible π-π interaction and interlinked by Cl…Cl short contacts.
