Abstract

p-Methoxyphenyl 2-acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranoside (1) was prepared by the reaction of pentaacetyl-β-D-glucosamine, p-methoxyphenol, and boron trifluoride etherate in dry methylene chloride. The crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The title compound 1 crystallizes in the hexagonale space group P65 with a = b = 12.5772(5)Å, V = 3427.0(3)Å3, and Z = 6. The crystal structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares. An intermolecular hydrogen bond of the amido hydrogen to the carbonyl oxygen of the acetamido group in another molecule was found.
