Crystal Structure of 7,8-Dimethylcoumarin-4-acetic Acid Ethyl Ester

Abstract

The title compound, C₁₄H₁₄O₄, was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal class in the space group P2₁/c with cell parameters a = 9.6970(7)Å, b = 10.3820(7)Å, c = 12.9440(9)Å, β = 110.130(3)° and Z = 4. The structure exhibits inter and intramolecular hydrogen bonds of the type C-H…O.
