The crystal structure of [GBH](ClO4) (GB = 2-guanidinobenzimidazole) is triclinic, space group P1 with a = 7.3100(8), b = 7.5630(8), c = 10.9496(12)Å, α = 108.742(2), β = 91.402(2), γ = 104.590(2)° and Z = 2. The crystal structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least squares to final values of R1 = 0.0433 and wR2 = 0.1275 with 1778 reflections (I > 2σ(I)). The [GBH](ClO4) is involved in hydrogen bonding, [GBH]+ acting as a donor with an O and N atoms as acceptor.
