Abstract

The reaction of a polymeric complex, [Cd(C3H4NS2)2]n, with 2,2′-bipyridine (bipy) as a ligand formed the complex [Cd(C3H4NS2)2(bipy)]. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This compound crystallized in the space group C2/c of the monoclinic system and contained four molecules per unit-cell. The unit-cell parameters are a = 12.965(3)Å, b = 15.408(3)Å, c = 11.395(3)Å with β = 117.233(5)°. The final R value was 0.0686 for 1577 reflections. This compound is monomeric, having a coordination sphere of N4S2 type.
