Abstract
The crystal structure of [CeL(NO3)]·CHCl3 (H2L = 1,8-bis[2-(2-hydroxyphenylideneimino)phenoxy]-3,6-dioxaoctane) was determined by an X-ray diffraction method. This complex was crystallized in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c, with a = 11.3671(13)Å, b = 20.135(2)Å, c = 15.4709(18)Å, β = 100.555(2)°, Z = 4, V = 3481.1(7)Å3. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the Ce(III) ion is coordinated with ten donor atoms, eight of which belong to an open-chain crown ligand, and the remaining two to bidentate nitrate groups. The coordination polyhedron around Ce(III) is a distorted bicapped square antiprism.
