In this study, we examined The relationship between the effect of acupuncture stimulation on electromyogram F wave (Amplitude ratio of F/M) of the first dorsal interosseous muscle and the effect of acupuncture stimulation on regional oxygen saturation (rSO2) of the first dorsal interosseous muscle. Acupuncture stimulation of Hegu (LI4;radial to the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone). An acupuncture needle (0.18 mm in diameter) was inserted up to a depth of 10 mm at the LI4. Acupuncture stimulation to the LI4 was significantly increased Amplitude ratio of F/M , and significantly increased rSO2. About 30 seconds after acupuncture stimulation a positive correlation was observed between the change in F / M amplitude ratio induced by acupuncture stimulation and the change in rSO2 induced by acupuncture stimulation. This was thought to be caused by acupuncture stimulation via the high central nervous system.
