Abstract
wenty-nine analogs of 2-deoxystreptamine have been tested to determine whether they are converted to antibiotics in 2-deoxystreptamine-negative mutants of Streptomyces fradiae, S. rimosus forma paromomycinus and S. kanamyceticus. Some analogs substituted at the 2-position of 2-deoxystreptamine undergo bioconversion to active antibiotics.
