Abstract
Several derivatives of mitosene and decarbamoylmitosene were prepared and tested for antibacterial and prophage induction activity to establish structure-activity relationships.
Substituent adjacent to quinone carbomyl strongly influence biological activity. The carbamoyl and aziridine groups were not essential for biological action of mitomycin, but it is postalated that an indolequinone structure is essential.
