Abstract
The authors have performed the morphological and chemical researches on the action of the raw potato-juice which has been recognized to bring a good effect to the acid stomach and the gastric ulcer. The authors recognized, at first, the low secretory function in the peptic and the parietal cells even after the injection of sesame oil into the stomach or administration of artificial diet if the raw potato-juice was beforehand injected into the stomach. Here the effect of the potato-juice to the acid stomach is believed to be owing to the control of the acid secretion. In the research on the cause of the low secretory function in the peptic and the parietal cells, the authors obtained the observations, the discharge-controlling of the productin vacuoles (FUJIE) from the gastric surface cells and few increasing of histamine in the blood (discharged productin) after the sesame oil or artificial diet administration which was continued to the injection of the raw potato-juice into the stomach. The aceton sediment of the potato-juice was more effective than the potato-juice. On the other hand, the constant histamine solution was added into the potato-juice or the liquid of its aceton sediment, then histamine was determined colorimetrically, and the strong anti-histamic action in the potato-juice, the stronger one in the aceton sediment have been recognized. The anti-histamic action of the potato-juice and the aceton sediment of it was positively demonstrated in the biological determination of histamine by using the intestinal canal of the guinea pigs.
According to the results obtained, the authors reached the conclusion that the raw potato-juice contains the substance which controls the productin secretion from the gastric surface cells, and can split productin (histamine-like substance) discharged into the blood. The low secretory functions recognized in the peptic and the parietal cells owing to the injection of the raw potato-juice into the stomach, can be understood as the appearance of these two actions of the juice.
