Abstract

The activity and localization of succinic dehydrogenase are demonstrated in the developing long bone obtained from new bone rats, ginea pigs and dog embryos. The results obtained are as follows.
1. A marked activity was observed in the trabeculae of primary spongiosa.
2. A moderate activity was demonstrated in the periosteum and osteoblasts which are adjacent to the periosteum, and in the perichondrium and perichondro cytes.
3. Low activity was observed in the endochondrocytes.
