Abstract
In this study, we developed a mensurative chamber for monitoring a cell adhesive force between a cell and a culture surface by quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) technique. The resonator, coated with the photo-functional polymer containing 6-nitrospiropyran on which the cells were attached and proliferated, was installed in a mensurative diflon chamber. The setup of this chamber allowed the photo-responsive culture surface to be fed continuously with fresh culture medium and be irradiated with light of any intensity and wavelength for various amount of time. The temperature in the chamber was controlled with the accuracy of 0.01K by means of a thermostatic circulator. Adoption of flow-type chamber allowed a real-time monitoring of change in the cell adhesive force. We report here the results of QCM measurement indicating the photo-response of PRCS in cell adhesiveness.
