Abstract
In this paper, a method for identifying a wiener-type model of nonlinear processes using transient step responses is proposed. The static nonlinearity part of the proposed model is represented by an invertible function defined on an operation range. Parameters in this function are determined by means of a simple optimization procedure which aims to obtain the instrument output to have the same performance as a linear process. Based on the instrumental output, a simple transfer function of linear subsystem is determined. The linear subsystem of the model is represented include possible RHP/LHP zeros and dead time. By way of this approach, identification of the linear and nonlinear parts is fully decoupled.
