Notes on Taiwanese Parietaria and Pouzolzia (Urticaceae)

Abstract

Parietaria micrantha was newly recorded in Taiwan and is described for the first time in this study; its pollen morphology was also examined. The taxonomic status of Parietaria taiwania was also investigated. The original publications, type specimens, and living plants of Parietaria taiwania and Pouzolzia taiwaniana were examined, resulting in the discovery that the two species are conspecific and belong to Pouzolzia. Parietaria taiwania is therefore treated as a synonym of Pouzolzia taiwaniana.
