Abstract
Water balance was investigated in a small basin coverd with a deciduous secondary forest over a 3-year period. Canopy through fall, stem flow and canopy interception were 80.0%, 7.4% and 12.6% of annual gross rainfall, repectively. Seasonal evapotranspiration estimated by short period water balance method showed a change depending upon the developmental stages of the canopy. Water balance in the basin was estimated as follows: water yield was 55% and evapotranspiration 45% of annual gross rainfall.
