The purpose of this paper is to identily the problems that need to be resolved before applying the four existing ICA descriptive standards to the nextgeneration International Standard for Archival Description: Records in Context Concept model(RiCCM).
The method used to do this is to begin with an adaptation experiment of transformation from the four existing ICA descriptive standards to RiCCM, followed by extraction of problems from the viewpoint of ①the process of building a metadata and ②the work requiring professional staff.
This research revealed the following problems: 1)Lack of consistency among RiCCM and the four existing ICA descriptive standards, machinereadable versions of archival description, and models developed by other communities, 2)Difficult procedures to apply to RiCCM, 3)Work for of identification, separation, integration,and selection of entities and attributes requiring professional staff.
