Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristics of personnel management in community-based farming corporations.
We classify corporations into two types on the basis of the purpose of employment. In the first type of corporations, the purpose of employment is to complement the labor force. This type is characterized bysimple personnel management that involves discovering and securing labor force.
In the second type of corporations, the purpose of employment is to develop a successor, and is characterized by that the following: selecting successors, making employees learn business sense, providing adequateremuneration to promising candidates, and appropriately assigning working hours and holidays.
