Abstract
Becker's time allocation theory suggests that demand for meals away from home shall be governed by the same factors to those in supply of market labor of housemakers.
The present paper aims at testing the hypothesis, i. e. demand for meals away from home is affected by value of time for housemakers by using survey data collected by the author in Tokyo Metropolitan areas. Separate regression equation by different household by different employment status of housewives is analysed. The hypothesis has been supported by the data.
