Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate a role of Fisheries Cooperative Societies in reconstruction process of Earthquake affected small village on the sea. There are numerous small fishing villages that have various social and economic backgrounds in the victim areas of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Fisheries cooperative at Hakozaki Peninsula in Kamaishi City carried out various measures required for improvement of the living standards of local residents before the Earthquake. This organizational experience ensured fair and equitable distribution of benefits through joint fishing just after the Earthquake.
