A Study on the Development and the Problems on Farmland in the Urbanization Promotion Area after the Amendment of the Agricultural Land Act

Case study of Nerima-ward, Tokyo

Abstract

It is very important to develop and maintain the farmland in urban area to form good urban environment in the context of urban planning. This paper aims to clarify the actual situation of designation of “Agricultural Land” and “Agricultural Land for Residential Development”, and the land use conversion farmland into residential use after the amendment of the Agricultural Land Act in 1992. Based on the survey, this paper also study on possibility of the re-designation of the “Agricultural Land” and “Agricultural Land for Residential Development” to use the Agricultural Land Act.
