Abstract

The annual event of the Toyooka Theater Festival, which takes place in September in the Tajima region of Hyogo Prefecture, is expected to promote sightseeing tours by providing the festival participants with appropriate information on travel within the festival area. Based on a close examination of similar art festivals held in a wide area of a given region, such as the Setouchi International Art Festival and the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, this study conducts a comparative analysis of the linguistic landscape in multiple languages at both festivals and proposes a language plan for the linguistic landscape to enhance the tourism ripple effect of the Toyooka Theater Festival.
