Abstract
We propose an interactive system to assist in the design of original weaving patterns and their construction. "Card weaving" is a very simple and easy weaving method. However, the textile patterns are typically designed via a laborious manual process. The final textile design is determined by 1) the color of each warp yarn, 2) the direction of four yarns passing through each card, and 3) the direction and number of rotations of the cards. The user first designs the color of warp yarn in the matrix of m × n cells (m is the number of holes in a card and n is the number of cards). The user can design a long woven band using a slider bar when he/she wants to design a band without repetition or independent rotation of the cards. The system automatically considers some constraints, such as the number of colors and the rotation direction of the cards. He/she then passes the yarn through the hole of each card using a construction guide. Finally, the user creates a real original weaving using these cards and yarns. The system also provides a construction guide assists a guide to assist manual weaving construction process.
