Abstract
In this paper, the authors discuss how to involve the heat sensation in image creation by using thermal vision. The past work of the authors presents a novel input system which can detect temperature change on a sensing surface when objects hotter or colder than the surface touch it. This can be a promising user interface platform involving the heat sensation interaction in image creation. Applications of image modification and 3D shape model deformation are implemented on the platform. The image modification application aims to achieve an intuitive user interface for color saturation and hue modifications which are strongly related to heat sensations. Using the analogy of thermal plasticity, the authors propose an intuitive manipulation method of deforming 3D shape models as making glassworks in the 3D shape model deformation application.
